“Marinera”
is a folklore dance from the Coastal regions of Peru.
These ceramic figures capture the spirit of this festive
dance. The music used for this dance is a combination
of African, Andean and Spanish rhythms. This type of music
is called “Criolla” music in Peru. The dance
is called “Marinera” and is now the national
dance of Peru. Every Spring there is a National Marinera
Festival held in Trujillo, Peru. During this celebration
Trujillo gets transformed and it is common to see spontaneous
dances erupt everywhere.
